Its been 25 years

It has been 25 years today since the death of a great American singer. Marvin Gaye. There is no argument that his voice guided the souls of people fighting for equal rights and civil rights. Musically he has remained my favorite artist to listen, watch and read about. When we go blind from our hate, your voice will guide us to the right path. Thank You.

Dreaming of Osama

During the week, a spokesperson from the Third Coast International Audio Festival came to do a lecture. They showed us great audio documentaries such as Dreaming of Osama by Pejk Malinovski.
There are more to drool over the site and I encourage you to take the time to listen to some of the work. The festival is here soon, so get tickets! Get me one while you're it.

This is another great work by John Wynne, Hearts, Lungs and Minds (UK)

I haven't posted much in the last week, I've been under the weather.

44!

The Chicago Bulls invade the White House. They gave Obama his own jersey with the number 44.

Id also like to sorrow for the late announcers of Chicago, Norm Van Lier and Johnny Red Kerr. Rest in Peace and may your voices announce our lives forever.

In a Music Blog Mood #1

Just heard the new Phoenix song.
If you are straight, it'll make your head bob more than agreeing with the nation that Obama rocks!
If you are not straight, it'll make your head bob more than a late night booty call.
Either way, listen to it!

In other instrumental news, Do Make Say Think are rumored to be touring again. Don't know who they are? Look at these vids.

And last, Here We Go Magic has a catchy tune with Tunnelvision

Enjoy

HELLO, you Blowatlife

I was doing some browsing and came across an artist, Lawrence Yang. His painting touch the world of surrealism and have unique traits individually. Check out more of his stuff.

While browsing through his website, I found something I want to dress my Mac in, this!

There are more fun designs! These are my favorite. Look for yours here, Gela Skins

Which ones are your favorites?

Also, before I finish this post, one more thing to share with the bloggers, HELLO is a short animation by animator Jonathan Nix.

Why Cant We Tickle Ourselves?

Last night was the Superbowl! Of course it was also the time that multimillionaire companies boast their products. This year's commercials felt flat for the most part, but some that killed me. Career Builder, you took the cake. Doritos, in second.

Since we are talking about Ads, here you can watch all the Superbowl commercials and more of the best of the best in the biz.

Amusing Designs

On a more off note, Why Cant We Tickle Ourselves?

Aristotle puzzled over the great mystery of why it’s impossible to tickle oneself. Turns out it’s quite simple, really. Here’s a brief explanation by British neuroscientist Sarah Blakemore that appeared in Scientific American:

“The answer lies at the back of the brain in an area called the cerebellum, which is involved in monitoring movements. Our studies at University College London have shown that the cerebellum can predict sensations when your own movement causes them but not when someone else does. When you try to tickle yourself, the cerebellum predicts the sensation and this prediction is used to cancel the response of other brain areas to the tickle.
Two brain regions are involved in processing how tickling feels. The somatosensory cortex processes touch and the anterior cingulate cortex processes pleasant information. We found that both these regions are less active during self-tickling than they are during tickling performed by someone else, which helps to explains why it doesn’t feel tickly and pleasant when you tickle yourself. Further studies using robots showed that the presence of a small delay between your own movement and the resulting tickle can make the sensation feel tickly. Indeed, the longer the delay, the more tickly it feels.”

Gaza's Dig

Over the past weeks I have been following photographs from Gaza. As we live in a "Society of Spectacle", these photos are more than relevant to the topic now than ever.

Over the course of these last months, many things have changed around the world. America will soon be delivered their new spokesman and other countries are battling civil conflicts. Here are remarkable photos that are strong enough that I wont apply captions with.

Pepsi Challege

Recently Pepsi Co. changed their logos and design on their products. I have been debating with people here and there about them. Some say its only a trend and that they will revert back in about 5 years. I say this design is sleek, smart, and looks like it took effort to really getting a right design with each can and bottle. check it.

Each Pepsi logo is different on each bottle and can. I like that. This is a major shift to go from loud and bold, to minimal and sleek. I think it will make other companies rethink their design. My vote? I am all for the new designs, Hail Pepsi!

Here is a link to see other new logos from brands, upcoming and new.
